Great Phone

Reviewed on Wednesday February 1, 2017 by , Toronto
In the wake of the Note 7 fiasco, this phone has shown why the design of current smart phones lead by Apple is wrong. The replaceable battery is essential, as is the ability to use standard screws in it. Given it takes 500lbs of material to make a phone, having one that can be fix easily is the true meaning of eco-friendly. Other than that, the phone is great. Camera settings and multiple lenses are awesome, video recording is great, multiple mics for content creation help record better sound in all places, and the screen is excellent. I especially like the HiFi DAC, it makes the phone sound much better than any other with music. The FM receiver is great, especially if you are on a data plan and like to listen to your local stations (use headphones). The fingerprint sensor is great even through the protective plastic (which is not recommend to be removed). Both the power button and camera glass can scratch easy, so skin or protect. While the phone isnít flashy, doesn't really matter because most users are either going to skin or put it in a case. I'm using a Ghostek Covert case and have dropped the phone in the case a few times and even bounced it off of a table with no damage resulting, the plastic top and bottom chin also help. You will likely want to change the Launcher, Keyboard, or wallpaper to your own tastes, but the phone itself is well designed and thatís what counts. Charging time is great with the rapid charger. This is a USB-C device if you buy other USB-C to USB-A cables you have to make 100% sure the cable itself has been properly built as USB-A spec was never intended on having the power this phone uses. I use a StarTech USB-C Gen 2 to USB-A cable, but you can find many others on Amazon, or by googling the subject. If you look on Amazon you can find some cables with a reviewer who tests the power requirements, pay attention to what he says there are some that can fail and do damage. Useful reviewers: Erica Griffin, Jerry Rig Everything, iFixit, etc.
