Rogers & Bell Increasing Share Plan Cost Tomorrow (Jan 12)

 Bell / Why Bell

If you're considering a switch or an upgrade with Bell or Rogers, you'd better hurry! Many of their plans are increasing in price on January 12th, with some lower tiered options and benefits being removed entirely.

Starting tomorrow, Bell will no longer offer the lower-priced 300 Local Minute option with their Share Plans, leaving new and upgrading customers to choose between Unlimited Local or Unlimited Nationwide options. While this guarantees you'll get unlimited minutes with your Share Plan, it also could mean paying up to $10 more per month.
Are you thinking: No big deal? You'll save money anyway because you're bringing your own device to Bell? Well, scratch that plan because Bell will now be charging the same fees for BYOD Plans as they do for Lite devices (something Rogers has already been doing for a while now on some of their region-specific plans).
Okay, maybe you need Unlimited Minutes anyway, and you're more interested in a Plus or Lite device than bringing your own or buying something unlocked - don't worry, Bell thought of that too... All Plus & Lite Share Plan pricing is increasing by $5/month.
According to Bell, these added fees are the price of their Network Enhancements. Their coverage, speed, and performance has been improved as well as they offer the $5/day travel feature called Roam Better - so customers are still getting great value for their dollar.
But why stop there? Bell has also decided that due to adding enhanced content, the Mobile TV add-on will be increasing by $3. That means it will now be $8/month for Mobile TV rather than $5/month. Though, they are still offering 24 months of free Mobile TV with 2-year Share Plans and 2 months with BYOD.
Rogers Share Everything
Rogers is also increasing their Share Plans by $5/month - but only a select few. All tiers (Premium Tab, Smart Tab, No Tab) are offered with Unlimited Local or Canada-Wide Calling and the 5 GB, 9 GB, and 15 GB Share Everything+ Plans will be increasing by $5/month. It appears the rest of the plans will remain the same (for now).
***Update*** - Tuesday, January 19th, 2016
