TELUS VoLTE Network Now Available in B.C.

April 20, 2016 by

Voice Over LTE is now available for TELUS customers in Lower Mainland B.C.

VoLTE, or Voice Over Long-Term Evolution, offers advantages such as more clear and dynamic call quality; the retention of LTE data during a call; the ability to make video calls to other VoLTE customers in a method similar to Skype or FaceTime; and faster call connectivity speeds, decreasing to approximately 2 seconds from the 8-10 averaged by 3G network calls.

TELUSí LTE launch follows Rogers,Bell, and Fido, who all offer the high speed technology. TELUS users interested in VoLTE are currently limited to customers in B.C.ís Lower Mainland using a Samsung Galaxy S6 or LG G4, and TELUS post-paid customers with an LTE SIM card. The carrier plans to expand coverage and add compatible devices throughout 2016.

To know if you are on a VoLTE connection, look for the LTE symbol on your device during a phone call.

There are no additional fees or increased data usage with VoLTE.
