They're Not Flexible, but ZTE Axon M's Dual Screens are Foldable

ZTE has been quietly developing the dual screen Axon M for over a year and it has finally been unveiled. Why now? No clue. Perhaps the pressure building from Samsung's development of a "flexible" smartphone which we will hopefully get to see next year, or maybe because there are rumors of Apple beginning development of a similar device. Either way this dual-screen smartphone looks very interesting and could prove to be useful for multitasking.

Since it has been in production for so long, the ZTE Axon M will have an Android 7.1 Nougat operating system at launch rather than 8.0 Oreo. It also has last year's Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor with 64GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM.

Sources state that this device will be exclusive to AT&T for around $700 USD, and should launch sometime in November. No word yet on whether it will come to Canada or not, but we will keep an eye out and let you know if it does.

Key Features:

  • Dual screens - With the dual 5.2" HD LCD displays on a 180-degree hinge, you can use your device like a regular smartphone, or toggle between other modes. Extend mode is a full screen view, Dual mode is for viewing two apps side by side, and Mirror mode looks like it will be great for playing games with friends and other creative uses.

  • One camera to rule them all - The design of this device makes separate front and rear cameras pointless (or impossible?) so it has one powerful 20MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, that doubles as a selfie-camera.

  • 3.5mm headphone jack - The dual screens might be trendy but thankfully ZTE did not follow the missing headphone jack trend!
