A flip phone would be better

Reviewed on Sunday December 30, 2018 by , Surrey
This phone might be affordable but it's definitely not worth the price it is. That's the one that I have has come with several problems.
1. The camera.
It says its a 5 megapixel camera but with my previous phone which was 5 megapixels I was able to take remarkable pictures this camera I can't even take a decent selfies let alone picture I would usually take.
2. The screen
What if you do don't drop it one of the weakest screens I've ever seen on a phone. Also the sensor is off a bit so wherever I tap it's just to left or to the right never the same place very hard to send a text.
3 sound.
I will not play music for people on this phone I sound that comes out of it just ruins the song. Also the phone likes to change the volume on you you might turn it all the way down but it decides to leave your notification all the way up. You cannot control the volume when you restart it sometimes it'll play the noise loudly and other times it won't it also will turn the Bluetooth on after I turn it off.
4 space.
It may say a 8 GB but keep in mind 4 gigabytes is taken up by the phone's OS so leaves little room for apps or music.
5. The battery life.
Actually I should say this battery has no life, when I'm going out I have to make sure I bring my battery back if I'm on the phone I have to make sure that it's always plugged in the battery fully charged will last maybe half hour if you're planning a game on it. If you don't touch the battery last much longer, but it's if you wanted to check Facebook play a game check your messages make calls listen to music the battery will get drained very fast so if you do buy one of these you should also buy a battery bank separately.
There are the promise I will not get into the thoughts, with all the problems frustration and stress I've had with this phone it's not worth the cheap price and you'd be better off getting an old flip phone then this phone.

Weak frame >> screen cracked in 4 hours >> unusable

Reviewed on Monday November 26, 2018 by , Burnaby
set it up in the afternoon, went out to event, took a few photos, went to take more discovered screen cracked and flickering (phone was not dropped) - could not use it at all - since we paid $29 at 7-11 it is not worth fixing - but not worth buying either

Figo - Maybe a good buy, maybe not

CON #1 - Memory . With only 8gb of memory there is little room for apps. The system memory and junk apps (uninstallable) take up 7gb so I have just 4 apps installed and I still am getting the memory warning. I have tried moving every possible app over to my 16gb sd card but most are not moveable.
CON#2 - Connectivity - The bluetooth on this device will not stay connected to the bluetooth in my car. Given the steep fines for having a cell phone in your hand while driving, the $40 phone could soon end up costing me several hundred. Similarly, the wifi connection is not strong. I had to turn off my mobile data plan as I was going way over it. I tried many things but the only solution, in the end, seemed to be to disconnect my mobile data or risk a huge bill. I never had a problem with my data usage when I used my Blackberry. The increased cost of data would wipe out the savings of this phone's price tag quite quickly. Connecting to public wifi is hit and miss. It mostly stays connected to the wifi at work but not always. This phone is fine for anyone who needs the phone for mainly talk and text and wants a nice looking screen or for someone who isn't very limited in their data plan. For the right type of user, this phone is a real bargain. For the wrong type of user, this phone is a bargain that keeps costing time and money.

Good phone for $40 but has lots of faults

Reviewed on Saturday October 6, 2018 by , Hamilton
I got this phone for $40 with a $100 top up from 7-11. I had just destroyed by BB9900 so I needed a quick replacement. This isn't close to my 9900 but it has some merits. The screen is nice and responsive. The camera seems to take good pictures. Audio quality for phone calls is acceptable. Battery life is quite good. I have the screen at half brightness and the battery lasts me about 14 or more hours. The few apps I do have load quickly and perform well most of the time. It is a bit on the large size but is in the pocketable range. I had the Blackberry PRIV before this and it was just a shade larger but that difference was enough that I couldn't readily pocket the PRIV. I had to often set it down and, it was therefore, predictably, stolen. The price of this phone is quite attractive and a reasonable person knows ahead of time that a $40 phone is going to come with serious limitations. The question is, are those limitations such that even $40 is too much? There are some major cons to this phone.

Not too terrible for fifty bucks

Reviewed on Thursday June 7, 2018 by , Toronto Canada
I've picked this up at a 711 store with a sim card and $100 prepaid airtime voucher after their web site failed to complete the purchase. It is actually a considerable upgrade over the Blu Advance 4, another $50 phone (also from 711) which I had for a couple of years until I lost it (hence the replacement). Folks with more expensive phones may sneer, but there's really nothing wrong with it as a phone, web and email browser. My only quibble thus far is that it seems to have more limited battery life than the 4L, but it has a massively bigger screen. Very good value thus far, we'll see how it holds up.
