Great, smart, value for money phone

Reviewed on Tuesday September 6, 2005 by , Mississauga, Canada
I have had this phone for over 3 years and I have used it in 4 different continents with most of the features!
To the discerning user, its simply a great, value for money, smart phone.
Thanks to Sony Ericsson!!

The screen IS anemic in the sun. However, the sensitivity of the phone increased dramatically when I updated from ver 1 to ver 6 of the firmware. It finds signals it could not beforehand.

Overall, I like it --esp the small size and looks. I played with the case, but went back to the original. It can be updated to a t630 with a kit and and different screen if You so desire--makes the screen more readable..

I've had this phone for about a year and half now. It amazes me that this phone won "phone of the year" from GSM World. On paper, it's a great phone. The features are wonderful but in reality it's a slow phone. Text messaging is my strength, not the phone's. I find the phone lags. I have to wait for it to catch up with what I've typed. The T9 dictionary supposedly offers up the word that's most commonly used. I then wonder why "vid" comes up more often than "the"...? I also find the toggle/joystick to be fussy. Sometimes it's over sensitive while other times I need to apply an extreme amount of pressure to get it to register. As others have pointed out, the screen is terrible in daylight. This is what I get for jumping ship from Nokia. I will never buy SE again. Better said, I'll stick to Nokia.

it looks good, but turns out to be bad

I still have the phone and i'm still using it. But i don't understand, how is there bad reception though, i'm using a Fido line (Rogers improved) and the bar is full, except for my home, which for some reason loses signal or just comes out as 2 or 1 bars. battery is kind of short so it pulls the fun out of it, camera is grainy, screen is pretty good (but bad on conditions where there's sunlight and cloudy. The GUI looks great and easy to use, but sometimes lag. The screen is easily scratched and smudged because it's made out of veneer, the faceplate that you want to switch costs around $80 with install (but not recommended because the screen will attract dust as you remove it) this would be better if they made a more durable phone and a less grainy camera and better screen.
