Find out what it will cost for SaskTel customers to use your phone while roaming in the US or Internationally.

Roaming

Take your LTE wireless device wherever you go! Get nearly seamless digital coverage throughout North America, plus international roaming in over 200 countries.

When you leave Canada with your LTE wireless device:

  • You’ll receive a free text to let you know that you’re now roaming.
  • Your device may still be using data services, even if you’re not actively using data features.
To avoid data roaming charges, just turn off the data feature on your wireless device. Leave your voice and text messaging services on and you’ll be good to go!

In Canada

Airtime charges:

  • Your regular airtime will be charged based on your wireless voice plan.

Voice mail:

  • When you retrieve your messages, you’ll be billed standard airtime charges and long distance charges according to your wireless service plan.

Long distance charges:

  • You may be charged long distance fees, depending on your wireless voice plan, where you are, and where you’re calling.
  • If you’re not on a long distance plan, calls you make or receive from a Canadian or U.S. landline or wireless phone will be billed at 45¢ per minute.

Text messaging charges:

  • Your incoming texts are free!
  • Texts you send to people in Canada, the U.S., and the Caribbean are free with an unlimited texting plan or 20¢ per message with pay-per-use text messaging.
  • Texts you send to customers of an international wireless carrier are 20¢ per message, with either a texting plan or pay-per-use text messaging.
  • Regular rates apply to third party short codes like voting, horoscopes, and quizzes.

Data charges:

  • The wireless data usage included in your data plan can be used anywhere in Canada.
  • If your data usage goes beyond your plan amount, you’ll be billed according to your plan’s additional data rate.

In the United States

When you travel to the U.S., we’ll text you (it’s free) to let you know you’re roaming on a U.S. network. You’ll also get standard retail roaming rates for voice, text, and data usage.

Airtime charges:

  • Calls you make or receive from a Canadian or U.S. landline or wireless phone will be charged at $3 per day.

Text messaging charges:

  • Your incoming texts are free!
  • Texts you send to people in Canada, the U.S., and the Caribbean are free with an unlimited texting plan or 20¢ per message with pay-per-use text messaging.
  • Texts you send to customers of an international wireless carrier are 20¢ per message with either a texting plan or pay-per-use text messaging.
  • Regular rates apply to third-party short codes like voting, horoscopes, and quizzes.

Data charges:

  • When you’re roaming in the U.S., you’ll be charged $5 per day for 300 MB.
  • We won’t deduct your roaming wireless data usage from the data included in your plan.

International (LTE)

When you travel to any country with your LTE phone, we’ll text you (it’s free) to let you know you’re roaming on an international network. You’ll also get the standard retail roaming rates for voice, text, and data usage for the country you’re in. You can take your SaskTel service to over 200 countries worldwide!

LTE airtime charges:

  • Your airtime and long distance are charged per minute and billed to your wireless account in Canadian funds.
  • We’ll never deduct your roaming minutes from the free minutes included in your plan.
  • You’ll be billed between 30¢ and $6.99 per minute depending on the country you’re in.
  • You may be charged extra for “premium” calls like vote lines, information, and directory assistance service.

Voice mail:

  • When you retrieve your messages, you’ll be billed for airtime charges and long distance according to the rates for the country you’re in.

LTE text messaging:

  • Your incoming texts are free!
  • You’ll be charged 20 – 65¢ for each text you send while roaming in international locations, in addition to regular text messaging charges.
  • You’ll be charged an additional 20¢ per text (in addition to the regular text messaging rates) for texts you send to a customer of an international wireless carrier.
  • Regular rates apply to third party short codes like voting, horoscopes, and quizzes.

LTE data charges:

  • While roaming internationally, you’ll be charged between 15¢ and $15 per MB for wireless data usage, depending on which zone you’re roaming in.
  • Data is charged in 10 KB increments to your wireless account in Canadian funds.
  • We won’t deduct the data you use while roaming from the data included in your regular data plan.
