Free Wi-Fi in Times Square and 47 US Airports

November 11, 2009

As of yesterday, Yahoo and the Times Square Alliance are providing free Wi-Fi service "to the more than 500,000 people who visit Times Square daily."

Meanwhile, Google will be offering free Wi-Fi until January 15, 2010, at 47 airports across the United States. The service will be available at no charge, but upon log-in, you will be asked whether youd like to make a donation to one of three charities (Engineers Without Borders, the One Economy Corporation or the Climate Savers Computing Initiative). There is no obligation to donate, but Google will match donations made via the Wi-Fi network, up to a maximum of $250,000 across the three non-profits groups.

Google will also be offering free Wi-Fi on all Virgin America flights during the same time period.
