Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge
Earlier today in Barcelona during Mobile World Congress Samsung unveiled their much anticipated Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Both will come bundled with Samsung Gear VR as an $200 incentive. We've got a quick overview of the biggest changes below.

Back to Expandable Memory

Samsung has gone back to expandable microSD memory killing their larger 128GB model. The S7 and S7 edge will both be available in 32GB or 64GB with expandable microSD up to 200GB.

Better Camera & Video

Samsung upgraded both phones with better low-light performing sensors. This was achieved this by bumping up the camera's aperature (f1.7) and larger 1.4Ám pixels on the image sensor.

Water & Dust Resistant

The new S7 and S7 edge are now water & dust resistant and cam be immersed in 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.

Always-on Screen Technology

Both the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will feature new always-on screen technology. The phones use AMOLED technology which allows only the needed pixels to be illuminated, so active notifications won't have a significant impact on battery life. We can expect this sort of technology in almost all new phones going forward.

Improved Battery Life

Samsung has listened to customers and added larger batteries in their new phones. The S7 comes with a 3,000mAh battery and the Galaxy S7 Edge getting 3,600mAh. Samsung says you can watch an entire season of Game of Thrones on a single charge. We wonder how dim the screen must have to be for this to be true.

Free Bundled Gear VR

Samsung will be bundling their Gear VR headsets with both the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. This is a sure fire way to increase the install base of their VR headset encouraging developers to make apps & games for it.

Availability & Pre-Orders

All major Canadian carriers will open up pre-orders tomorrow with the S7 and S7 edge being available to buy starting on March 11th. We don't know pricing but will update this story when we know more.
