Does the idea of a smart home seem out of reach?
Well, now you can access this cutting-edge integrated technology within the palm of your hand.
Rogers just launched their new Smart Home Monitoring app for both Android and iOS. Now, Smart Home Monitoring (SHM) customers can access all the security and automation features that were previously only available on the web, from their smartphones and other mobile devices.
Some notable features of the new app:
- Groups of devices, or Tiles, on the app interface make it easy to customize your home management mobile experience.
- Popular menu choices like Pages, Activity (formerly History), Automations (formerly Rules) and Settings can be accessed from any page in the app by using a taskbar at the bottom of the screen, making it easier to quickly see what’s happening at home while you’re away
- Edit, delete, enable and disable individual Automations on the fly, instead of waiting for access to a desktop computer or laptop
- Access and change the thermostat schedule directly to adjusting heating, cooling, and timer settings
What’s a smart home, anyway?
A smart home can do things like send alerts to your smartphone or tablet when a motion detector or smoke alarm goes off, or when doors and windows are opened. Setting rules such as to send you an SMS when the front door opens between 3:30-4:00pm on weekdays lets you know when the kids come home, while having the family room light go on for five minutes every 20 minutes between 7pm and midnight while you’re on vacation deters unauthorized entry by making it look like you’re at home.
