Koodo and TELUS increasing SIM Card Fees Tomorrow

October 16, 2017 by
Starting October 17th, the price of all Koodo SIM cards and TELUS LTE Tri-cut SIM cards will be raised by $5. Koodo's prices will go from $10 to $15, and TELUS' from $15 to $20.

SIM Card

  • Purchasing a new SIM card from either carrier is just a one-time requirement for new customers and does not apply to all transactions or upgrades. Prepaid device bundles already include the SIM card at no additional cost, so this change will only affect postpaid account activations.
  • Both Koodo and TELUS' SIM cards come with a lifetime warranty against defects in materials or workmanship.
  • This announcement comes shortly after Rogers and Fido increased their connection fees from $15 and $20 both up to $25 (and Rogers also charges an additional $10 for their SIM Cards on top of the activation fee). Bell and Virgin Mobile charge a $25 connection fee as well, so despite the increase tomorrow, Koodo and TELUS will still have the lowest activation costs out of the 3 major Canadian carriers.

About Koodo Mobile:   Koodo Mobile is a Canadian mobile flanker brand started by Telus in 2008 and mostly oriented toward younger customers. Koodo differs from its parent Telus by not requiring a fixed term contract. Koodo currently provides postpaid and prepaid services. Being a subsidiary of Telus, Koodo has been able to offer extensive coverage and a strong presence in mobile retailers. This allowed Koodo to gain a presence nationwide. The brand name is a variation of the Ancient Greek word "κῦδος" (the ascendant to the English word "kudos"), meaning "praise, renown, glory" and more recently "acclaim for something well done". - Wikipedia
