TELUS has just added yet another range of options to their 'Your Choice' mobile rate plans. They had launched a series of Unlimited Canada-US plans in February last year, and this year are back with Unlimited Canada-China plans.
Like all of the Your Choice plans, customers can build their own monthly plan by selecting what type of phone they want (or skipping this step and saving $10 per month if they already own a device), selecting how much data they would like, and choosing what type of calling suits them best. Talk options range from either 300 local anytime minutes per billing cycle, unlimited local calling, unlimited nationwide calling, unlimited Canada and US calling (that can also be used while roaming in the US), and now the latest addition of unlimited Canada and China calling.
Like the Canada-US plans, these new Canada-China plans can be used whether you are in Canada, or while you are roaming in the included region. Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau are all included in the new China plans. These monthly plans have a standalone monthly cost, and are separate from pre-existing international roaming Travel Passes that are offered. The plans include unlimited calling, text, picture and video messaging between Canada and China with no long distance fees. They also allow subscribers to use their regular monthly data allowance while they are in China, without incurring any additional roaming costs.
This plan is the first of its kind and could save frequent Canada/China travellers a lot of grief. If any other carriers follow with similar plans in the future we will keep you posted.
