HTC Bolt - Buyer Beware
Reviewed on Thursday March 30, 2017 by Sean, USA
After months of waiting to finish out my contract on an iPhone, I was so excited to finally be able to go back to an Android phone. After doing some research, and since I was staying with Sprint, I decided to go with the HTC Bolt which is exclusive to Sprint. It had some level of water protection, seemed fast enough for my needs, and has a slightly larger (but not too massive) screen. At first, I was really pleased with the phone; I was happy to have an android back and it was doing what it was supposed to. Within a month, the phone started getting REALLY hot to the touch when I was doing the simplest of tasks on it. It also seemed to be getting way too hot when charging. In the beginning of the second month, the screen started locking anytime I was applying pressure or motion to perform tasks on the touch screen. It was also not behaving like a regular lock. There would be at least a two second delay before I could unlock it again.
To make a long story short, I had to send the phone back to HTC for a repair that they will hopefully cover under warranty. The phone was never dropped, exposed to water, and rarely even left my bedside nightstand. The phone has been there since the beginning of the week and they still cannot give me any further information about what is wrong with the phone. So, I'm without a phone that is less than two months old for at least two weeks. They would not send me a replacement, they would not send me a loaner, and I don't know for sure yet if they're even going to ship the phone back with expedited shipping when they're done with the repairs.
Hopefully you've gotten some useful information from this review and decide to stick with Samsung, LG, or another brand of phone. This is my first experience with HTC and it has been terrible.
