FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What network does Petro-Canada Mobility operate on?
Petro-Canada Mobility operates on Rogers’ national 4G HSPA+ network that covers over 90% of the Canadian population.
Does Petro-Canada offer roaming?
Since Petro-Canada Mobility uses a network that covers 90% of the Canadian population, it means that you will always be on the network and will have no need to roam within Canada.
“Roaming” occurs when a subscriber of one wireless service provider uses the facilities of another wireless service provider. Roaming most often occurs when you make and receive calls outside the home calling area. Your Petro-Canada Mobility phone will not roam. An indicator light on your phone may display the word “Roam,” “RM” or NO SERVICE on the screen while the phone is not in its home calling area.
International Roaming is strictly prohibited. They do not offer international roaming. You will not be able to make or receive calls on your Petro-Canada Mobility phone if you are traveling outside of the Canada. Inside of Canada, you will be able to receive and make international calls.
How to I make an international call?
Dial 011 + Country Code + City or Area Code + Local Number (Voice Usage charges and Long Distance charges apply. These rates are continually changing, so please check the current rates first.)
How do I send an international Text Message?
Text 011 + Country Code + City or Area Code + Local Number (Text Usage charge of $.35/message apply. Do not use the + symbol instead of 011.)
Why can’t I send a picture message?
Picture messages require that your plan has data enabled. If your plan does not have data enabled, you will not be able to send picture messages. If your account does not have sufficient balance to cover the picture message rate of $0.50, your message will not send.
Be sure that your device is capable of sending picture messaging as not all handsets are. If you are unsure, contact your handset manufacturer.
Lastly, check to ensure that the MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) settings on your handset are set up as follows:
MMS Proxy: mmsproxy.rogers.com
MMS Port: 80
APN Type: Default
APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
If you need assistance changing these settings into your phone, please contact your handset manufacturer.
